Freedom isn’t free! Patriotism has always been a core value of Manchester Road Race culture. For the second year in a row, we’re organizing Veterans’ Row at the Vietnam Memorial (at the corner of East Center Street and Main Street, as runners head for the finish line). Veterans’ Row 2021 will include:

  • Special pre-Race veterans’ reception
  • “Path of Honor” to recognize military runners during the Race
  • Military equipment demonstration area on public display
  • Media coverage before, during and after the Race

Some feedback from 2020 Virtual Race military runners!

“I’m so glad that there was a virtual race this year. The app was awesome and the national anthem was the best. I ran because it has been a family tradition for many years. I’ve only missed two, the year of the snowstorm and a year when I was on the west coast for business. This year, we ran in Poway, California, where the temperature was in the 60’s on a relatively flat course. Sure didn’t miss ‘the hill.’ Your appreciation for veterans is greatly appreciated.”

“I ran as I have for 28 years, to show my support of the Manchester Road Race. It is the only place I want to be on Thanksgiving morning. The atmosphere and the people bring the Town of Manchester alive on this special day once a year. I now have my daughter attending this wonderful event with me, and this was her fifth year. Although we ran in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, we knew we were making a difference by supporting the race and its countless volunteers, supporting the numerous charities the race supports.”

“Thanks for allowing us to make a small difference this year. Already counting the days until next year!”

“Being honored in the race is a beautiful thing.”

“WOW! Well done! We veterans received an email from the Race offering some intriguing statistics. Can you send this to me again? I would like to share it.”

“As a military veteran, and remembering when military veterans were reviled, it’s great to see patriotism in the right light through your efforts.”

“First off I would like to say thank you very much for all the support you show veterans every year. My father-in-law always makes our way to the tent and I am overwhelmed by the support you show veterans.”
