General Information

The goals of seeding runners are to allow experienced runners an unimpeded start and to help prevent injuries of all participants.

This year, we will be seeding the field to 42 minutes.

Seeding is based on one of two things:

Automatic Seeding for Last year’s finishers

The Race Committee will ONLY mail out Seed cards to registered runners. If you finished the previous year’s Manchester Road Race in under 42:00 your results will be checked during the 2016 Online Registration process and a Seeding Group will be assigned. The online registration system will check your LASTNAME, AGE, ZIPCODE, and GENDER against last year’s results and you will be assigned a Seeding Group (U30, U35, U38, U42 or OPEN) which will be displayed in your registration confirmation. If a match is not found, you will be placed in the OPEN Seeding Group. If you DID finish last year’s race in less than 42:00 minutes but our system was unable to find your match, you may submit a Request to be Seeded. Just follow the directions below and use last year’s Manchester’s results (Results for 2015) to submit a Request to be Seeded.

Important Info Regarding Seed Cards

The specially colored Address Label on the front of your race packet IS your seed card. For admittance to the appropriate seed pen, please bring your race packet envelop to the race. If you request a seed card at walk-in registration, you will receive a separate envelope or card with the special address label. Be sure to bring that envelope or card to the race.
Please trim your Seed Card by cutting off the ends of the envelope. Leave approximately a 4.5" section to bring to the race (see dotted lines below). This IS your Seed Card.

How to Request to be Seeded or upgrade your current Seeding Group (Sept 1 through noon EST on Nov 17)

1) Be prepared to supply the following information when you are requesting to be seeded:

   a. Name of Race you ran

   b. Date of Race

   c. Your NET finish time

   d. Copy of the line from the results that show this finish time

   e. Precise URL(website address that brings up the results page)

   f. Your Bibnumber that you have been assigned during Registration for the 2016 Manchester Road.

2) Submit this information in our Seeding Request WebPage.

3) You will be sent an email within a week approving or rejecting your request.

Registration packets (Bibnumbers / Timing Tag) and Seeding cards will be mailed to registered runners during the second and third weeks of November. Please allow one week for delivery. Any seeding requests made after midnight on Sunday, Nov 13 must be picked up at the Sports Expo or the morning of the race.

If your address has changed, then you must request for seeding as detailed above.

Do not e-Mail or snail mail a request for seeding. It will NOT be processed.

All requests for seeding must be received by noon EST Thursday, Nov 17. After this deadline you MUST apply in person (a parent or spouse can represent you) at Walk-in Registration (at the Sports Expo).  Please bring supporting documentation with you.

If you do not qualify for a seed card, keep in mind that you can get a reasonably good starting position by lining up at 9:15 am directly behind the U42 seeding section.

Any disputes over seeding will only be dealt with at Walk-in Registration (at the Sports Expo).  Make sure you don't leave this until the last minute or you will be left out of our seeding area!
